Interfish-España anuncia el nombramiento de Sergio Acevedo Iglesias como nuevo director gerente de la organización. Con un perfil que combina la perspectiva económica del sector pesquero con la gestión científica de las pesquerías, fruto de su formación y experiencia especializada, Acevedo asume el objetivo de impulsar la comunicación, la divulgación y la coordinación del sector palangrero dedicado a especies como el pez espada, la tintorera y el marrajo.
El nombramiento fue ratificado en la Junta Directiva celebrada en Vigo, en la que participaron todas las asociadas: CONXEMAR, OPROMAR, OPP Burela, ORPAGU y el nuevo director gerente de la interprofesional, Sergio Acevedo Iglesias. Los miembros de la Junta destacaron la importancia de reforzar la coordinación del sector y el papel de la organización como plataforma de diálogo y divulgación, labores institucionales y de promoción.
El nombramiento se produce en un momento clave para el sector, marcado por el incremento de los costes de explotación mientras el precio de primera venta permanece estancado. En este contexto, Acevedo asume el reto de consolidar el papel de Interfish-España como espacio de encuentro y coordinación para el sector, reforzando su labor de divulgación y cohesión, para revalorizar las especies representadas.
Desde su nueva responsabilidad, el director gerente invita a la ciudadanía, a las ONG, a la industria, al sector transformador, a las distribuidoras, a las autoridades y al resto de actores implicados a colaborar con la organización para reforzar su capacidad de trasladar a la sociedad información rigurosa sobre los productos pesqueros asociados y sobre la realidad actual de la actividad pesquera.

InterFish is the only interprofessional organization in the fishing sector in Spain, bringing together companies from marketing, industry, and fisheries production to represent and defend species such as blue shark, swordfish, and shortfin mako.
Interfish-España has announced the appointment of Sergio Acevedo Iglesias as the new Managing Director of the organization. With a profile that combines an economic perspective on the fishing sector with scientific fisheries management—stemming from his specialized training and experience—Acevedo takes on the goal of strengthening communication, outreach, and coordination within the longline fishing sector dedicated to species such as swordfish, blue shark, and shortfin mako.
The appointment was ratified at the Board of Directors meeting held in Vigo, attended by all member organizations: CONXEMAR, OPROMAR, OPP Burela, ORPAGU, and the new Managing Director of the interprofessional organization, Sergio Acevedo Iglesias. Board members highlighted the importance of reinforcing sector coordination and the organization’s role as a platform for dialogue, outreach, institutional work, and promotion.
The appointment comes at a key moment for the sector, marked by rising operating costs while first-sale prices remain stagnant. In this context, Acevedo takes on the challenge of consolidating Interfish-Spain’s role as a meeting point and coordination platform for the sector, strengthening its outreach and cohesion efforts to enhance the value of the represented species.
In his new role, the Managing Director invites citizens, NGOs, industry stakeholders, the processing sector, distributors, authorities, and other involved parties to collaborate with the organization in order to strengthen its capacity to provide society with accurate information about the associated fishery products and the current reality of fishing activities.
